The adult education of Shanghai Second Polytechnic University has a good reputation in Shanghai. Over the past forty years, it cultivated a large number of science and technology backbone and management of cadres for the state and society, such as "Grab King" Bao Qifan, "Shanghai inventor" Yu Hong, and “National Labor Model" Li Bin. It was hailed as the "National Higher Vocational Red Flag", "Adult Education Front Pacesetter" by the party and state leaders. July 2002, School of Continuing Education was founded, and it is mainly responsible for adult education and non-academic education work. Currently, it has an area of 7000 square meters, with 9 rooms and 700 sets of computers. Various teaching points was established inside and outside.

In Adult Higher Education, with multi-disciplinary, multi-level, multi-form training all kinds of talent, the School has opened more than 40 specialties, involving science and engineering, liberal arts, art and language classes. Besides the amateur classes, there are all full-time classes. In recent years, the enrollment has increased year by year, which is about 2300 students. At present it has reached more than 6500. The School also successfully enrolled in the national model worker Tang Jianping composed of students model worker class. At the same time, the School pays much attention to strengthening the students' practical ability and social competition ability, putting "Education + certificate" teaching mode on trial. The school has been rated as advanced units of adult education by The Ministry of Education and advanced units of the national adult education by Chinese Adult Education Association in 2004.
