Faculty of Arts and Sciences
Through the adjustment and optimization of the layout, Faculty of Arts and Sciences is formed by the original College of Foreign Languages, School of Humanities and the Faculty of Humanities International School. In addition to completing the undergraduate major establishment of this Part, a more important_c.htmlect is that the faculty undertake the task of teaching students in the school of education and public basic general education courses, to lay a good foundation for training and to improve students' cultural awareness and professional ethics.
Faculty of Arts and Sciences includes the School of Foreign Languages, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Humanities and Education Center. It also has 1 key discipline at university level (Applied Mathematics) and 3 field cultivate disciplines at university level (Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, English language and literature, Public Administration).
At present, there are a total of 148 staff in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, including 140 full-time teachers, with 30% teachers with senior professional titles. A great number of teachers has high academic level and teaching level, especially the mathematics teachers. From a few years ago, our students participated in the Shanghai New Universities Mathematics Exams, and got the first prize of science for three consecutive years, to the recent years, our teachers are guiding the students to participate in various mathematics competitions, and they got numerous awards and teaching achievements. In addition, a number of teachers got the sponsorships from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (General Program, Youth Fund, Tianyuan Fund for Mathematics),and Shanghai Natural Science Foundation and the Board of Education of innovative projects. Many courses also got the sponsorships from the key course of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, a group of teaching achievements by the Shanghai kinds of teaching and school achievement award. A group of teaching achievements got all kinds of teaching awards from Shanghai and SSPU.
In recent years, according to the professional characteristics and market demand, the faculty made some modest reform for professional courses. We are making great efforts to train students to become compound talents in the relevant field, and creating broader employment opportunities for students. Up to now, the employment rate of the Faculty has reached more than 95%.
