After receiving the incoming student’s confirmation of enrollment via email, the TU International Students Department will send by mail the TU Admission Notice and a P.R. China Visa Application Form (JW 202 Form) to the address listed on the application form. Accepted students will then (1) apply for and receive a Chinese Visa for entry to China and (2) once in China will receive a Tibet Entrance Permit.
In preparation of traveling to China for studying at TU, the applicants shall apply only for the Chinese Student (X) Visa with the Visa Application Form (JW 202 Form) and TU Admission Notice at their respective Chinese embassy in their home country or consulate in the country of residence. The Chinese Tourist (L) Visa is not an acceptable option. If the incoming student already is living, studying, or working in China and has a valid Chinese visa (other than an “X” student visa) or Chinese work/residence permit, please contact the TU International Students Department for possible options.
Upon arrival in China, incoming TU students will be required to stay in a Chinese city outside the Tibet Autonomous Region at least 24 hours in order to receive an original version of their Tibet Entrance Permit, a permit required for all foreign (non-P.R.C.) passport holders to enter into the Tibet Autonomous Region. In order to send the Tibet Entrance Permit via express mail, incoming TU students are asked to provide a mailing address and phone number of their hotel or residence in China during this stopover.
To receive the Tibet Entrance Permit, there must be at least a 24-hour stopover in mainland China with a physical mailing address and telephone number. The TU International Student Office can not express mail the Tibet Entrance Permit to an incoming TU student at a Chinese airport during a layover, awaiting a change of planes in transit to Lhasa.
