The application fee is non-refundable.
Tuition: Students must pay each semester's tuition in total, no later than 3 weeks (21 days) after the first day of classes of the semester. Tuition payments not made within 3 weeks (21 calendar days) following the first day of classes of the semester, will be charged 10RMB per day as a late penalty. The late penalty will start accruing on the 22nd calendar day following the first day of classes for the semester. While the TU International Students Office will provide a reminder prior to the tuition payment deadline, it is the sole responsibility of the international student to pay the tuition on time to avoid a late penalty.
In the event a student withdraws from school within 3 weeks from the official registration dates, 50% of the tuition can be returned. After 3 weeks following the beginning of the semester, the tuition fee is non-refundable.
Room fee: The room fee can be paid in total at the beginning of the semester or on a monthly basis. If the student chooses to pay the room fee on a monthly basis, the student will be expected to pay the room fee for the previous month by the first Monday class is in session of the following month (for example, pay room fee for March 2014 by close of business on Monday, April 7). Students not paying by the first Monday class is in session of the following month will be charged 10 RMB per day as a late penalty beginning on the Tuesday after the Monday deadline.
For the last month of study in each semester (December and July), the room fee will be based on the student’s actual number of days staying in the dorm since many students choose to depart Lhasa once final exams have concluded. For the months of December and July, the room fee payment will be expected by the 15th of the month. For the months of December and July, students not paying the room fee by the 15th of the month will be charged 10 RMB per day as a late penalty. The late penalty will start accruing on the 16th calendar day of the month.
If a student withdraws from school prior to the completion of the semester, the room fee will be assessed according to the student’s actual period of stay.
Students are permitted to live in the dormitory room during the semester vacation period in the winter (end of December through end of February) and summer (end of July, August), during this time the dorm room fee is per normal, 50 rmb/day. During the official semester vacation period, students not staying in their dorm rooms but leaving any of their belongings in their dorm room will be charged 25 rmb/day fee. During the official vacation period between semesters, no fee will be charged for students not staying in their dorms, completely emptying their dorm rooms, and returning the dorm room key to the International Students Dormitory Reception. Room fee payment for the winter vacation period (end of December through end of February) is expected on the first Monday class is in session in March. For returning students, room fee payment for the summer vacation period (end of July, August) is expected on the first Monday that class is in session in September. Students not paying by the first Monday class is in session, will be charged 10 RMB per day as a late penalty beginning on the Tuesday after the Monday deadline.
