Admission to a Non-Degree Program

※ Application deadline for College Preparatory Program is each June 30th. Application deadline for General/Senior Scholar Program, Chinese Language Program, and Study Trip Program is each July 10th for fall recruiting or January 10th for spring recruiting.

※ Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

※ Students who are studying in China upon application should also submit a study certificate and transcripts issued by the institution.

① College Preparatory Program

College Preparatory Program (CPP) is a one-year study program designed to prepare selected high school graduates for admission to an undergraduate program at Dalian Maritime University (DMU).

CPP offers international students an opportunity to learn Chinese language, Chinese culture, mathematics, and English in a systematic way. Joining this program, you will have the chance to participate in various language practices and social activities. Through a year’s learning, you will be able to master basic Chinese language skill and cultural knowledge, with a certain degree of Chinese verbal communication ability and cross-cultural communicative competence; as a result, you will basically have the capabilities required for pursuing bachelor’s degree courses at DMU.

On successful completion of CPP, students will be accepted as an undergraduate student at DMU. Conditions are as follows:

1. Obtain a completion certificate of College Preparatory Program;

2. Obtain an HSK 4th Level Certificate.

※ Students applying for studying the Science of Law or Foreign Language are not required to study mathematics.

Application Qualification

The applicant must be a foreign citizen in good health, aged between 18 and 35, possessing a valid passport, and has graduated from an institution equal to Chinese senior high school.

Application Materials

2. Photocopy of the personal information page of passport (photocopy of a valid Chinese visa is required to submit if an applicant is in China upon application)

3. Notarized high school diploma or High school enrollment certificate (applicable to this year’s graduates who haven’t received the diploma)

4. Notarized all high school transcripts

② General Scholar Programs

Application Qualification

The applicant must be a foreign citizen with a valid passport, pursuing a Bachelor Degree, in good health, aged between 18 and 35.

Application Materials

2. Photocopy of the personal information page of passport (photocopy of a valid Chinese visa is required to submit if an applicant is in China upon application)

3. Enrollment Certificate of bachelor’s degree study

4. All official undergraduate transcripts

5. Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors

③ Senior Scholar Programs

Application Qualification

The applicant must be a foreign citizen with a valid passport, aged between 18 and 40/50, possessing a Bachelor Degree or Master Degree and in good health.

Application Materials

2. Photocopy of the personal information page of passport (photocopy of a valid Chinese visa is required to submit if an applicant is in China upon application)

3. Notarized certificate of bachelor’s degree or master’s degree

4. Notarized all official transcripts of undergraduate study or master’s degree study

5. Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors

6. Study Plan, including personal information, education background, work experience, and academic research proposal (no fewer than 3000 Chinese characters in Chinese or no fewer than 2500 words in English)

④ Chinese Language Program

Long-term class (with duration of more than half a year) enrolls new students twice annually, which commence in March and September respectively. The Chinese language study includes four phrases: introduction courses, elementary courses, intermediate courses, and advanced courses. Students will attend classes from Monday to Friday which includes 20-22 hours of required courses and 2-4 hours of elective courses every week.

Teaching Features:

IEC aims at cultivating students’ practical ability of using Chinese language through various school activities (class size is kept at a maximum of 20 students).

IEC provides students with various activities involving Chinese language practice and talent shows so as to enhance your reading, speaking, listening, and writing ability.

Chinese language training is combined with preparatory education. IEC has a large number of experienced and highly qualified Chinese language teachers that contributes greatly to the high teaching quality.

Short-term Class (2-4 weeks) is usually conducted in summer and winter vacations. The specific start date and course contents can be discussed according to the request of applicants. For individual application, the class will be held with the minimum student number of 6. For group application, teaching schedule, contents and activities can be adjusted accordingly.

Application Qualification

The applicant must be a foreign citizen in good health, aged between 18 and 60, possessing a valid passport, and has graduated from an institution equal to Chinese senior high school.

3. Certificate of highest diploma or Enrollment Certificate of present study

⑤ Study Trip Program

The normal period of study trip program is from 1 to 4 weeks. It is only opened to students organized by overseas universities or educational organizations. Courses of study trip include Chinese history, language, culture, food, tea ceremony, ceramics, etc. This program aims to provide more opportunities for international students to improve their understanding of ancient and contemporary China. The specific start date, course contents, and activities can be discussed according to the request of the institution.

Application Qualification

The applicant must be a foreign citizen in good health, aged between 18 and 35, possessing a valid passport, and is a full-time undergraduate student of any university around the world.
