Animal Husbandry and Veterinary

It is the key specialty of National Vocational School and the symbolic specialty of Jiangsu province, which was founded in 1958. At present, there are 58 full-time teachers, including 16 professors, 19 associate professors and 21 PhD supervisors. There are 3 national-level and 2 provincial-level practical training bases, and it also has close cooperation with 26 companies. Besides, the teaching and scientific research instruments valued over 32 million RMB.

Major courses: animal anatomy & physiology, animal pathogen detection technology, animal genetics & breeding, animal nutrition & feed, farm environmental control & waste management technology, animal reproduction, veterinary clinical diagnosis & treatment, animal epidemic prevention & quarantine, poultry production & disease control, pig production & disease control, cattle and sheep production & disease control, etc.

Employment orientation: intensive farming company, feed/veterinary medicine company, livestock products processing company, biological scientific research institution, animal hospital, veterinary health supervision institute, etc.

Animal Medicine

There are 45 teaching and administrative staffs, consisting of 7 professors, 14 associate professors, 10 doctors. One of them is rewarded with a grant of "333 Project", and three of them are funded by "Project Blue" of Jiangsu province as backbone teachers. At the same time, there are 16 school training bases and more than 50 off-campus training bases, and advanced instruments and equipments for teaching and scientific research.

Major courses: animal anatomy & physiology, animal pathology, animal pharmacology, veterinary clinical diagnosis technology, animal internal disease diagnosis and treatment technology, animal surgical disease diagnosis and treatment technology, microbial and immune basis, animal infectious disease prevention and control technology, animal parasitic disease control technology, Chinese traditional veterinary medicine, etc.

Employment orientation: animal disease diagnosis and treatment institutions, large-scale farms, animal disease prevention and control institutions, veterinary medicine and feed production enterprises, engaged in animal disease diagnosis, prevention and treatment, etc..

Food and Drug Supervision and Administration

There are 28 school full-time teachers, including 7 doctors, 2 professors and 12 associate professors; 2 provincial training bases and 1 provincial research center have been built up now, with training room area of 6000 square meters and training equipments valued more than 10 million RMB; Teachers have presided over more than 10 national, provincial and horizontal projects, and gained more than 10 above city-level scientific research achievements.

Major courses: analysis chemistry, basic chemistry, pharmacology, food biochemistry, food microbiology detection technology, food nutrition and health, pharmaceutical preparations, food standards and regulations, pharmaceutical affairs management, food quality and safety management technology, food processing unit operations, principles of management, drug marketing practice, laboratory organization and management, etc.

Employment orientation: After graduation, students will take the corresponding management work in production department and QC department of food, medicine, cosmetics, health products and other related enterprises, as well as engage in chemical industry, food, pharmaceutical, quality inspection, security management, quality supervision, technical services, product promotion in the food and drug inspection and the epidemic prevention station.

Bio Pharmaceutical Technology

This program was offered from 2006, and there are 15 full-time teachers, consisting of 2 professors, 2 associate professors and 2 teachers with doctoral degrees. At present, 420 students are studying in this program now. At present, a provincial group of scientific and technical innovation has been built up, and there are two on-campus training bases, Jiangsu Provincial Veterinary Bio-pharmaceutical High-tech Key Laboratory and Jiangsu Zhongmu Beikang Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd., together with more than 20 off-campus training bases, such as Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group, China (Taizhou) Medical City, Zhenjiang Tianhe Biotechnology Co. Ltd.

Professional basic courses: biochemistry, microbiology and immunology, cell biology, pharmacology, genetic engineering pharmaceutical, cell engineering pharmaceutical, fermentation engineering pharmaceutical, drug preparation technology, drug quality management technology, biopharmaceutical analysis, Biochemical separation technology.

Employment orientation: This program will appeal to graduates who wish to pursue a career in bio-pharmaceutical production enterprise, institute of biological medicine, drug sales companies and biological medicines companies.

Pet Maintenance and Training Guide

The major is the brand professional construction point in Jiangsu province. There are 26 full-time teachers, of which the rate of “double qualified teacher” is 100%. The major has undertook more than 40 scientific research projects at all levels, and has won the first prize of National Teaching Achievement Award. A national education teaching resource library has been built, together with informationalized major courses teaching, and excellent training equipment.

Fundamental Course: pet anatomical physiology, pet psychology and behavior, pet pathology, pet keeping, pet care, pet training and performance, pet disease diagnosis and treatment technology, pet internal disease, Pet diseases and public health, pet surgery and obstetrics, pet pharmacology.

Choice of occupation: pet hospital, pet beauty salons, pet training club, professional kennel, pet supplies production enterprise or self-employment.

Computer & Network Technology

This major was set up in 2000, and now there are 14 teachers, including 1 professor, 4 associate professors and 12 part-time teachers from enterprises. Based on the provincial students’ placement basis, 7 on-campus labs have been built which focus on network establishing, information safety and so on, with the equipment worth 6,200,000 RMB.

Main courses: computer basis, computer & network basis, comprehensive wiring technology, network interconnection technology, server erection & maintenance, network safety technology, graphic design, web page making technology, layout and special effects, database application, AutoCAD, language program design, dynamic web page making technology.

Employment: Companies majored in agricultural informatization may need the students in the establishment, management and application of computers and network.

Mechanical and Electrical Integration Technology

Founded in 1995, the major has a long history, with advanced teaching equipment and strong team of teachers. All the professional teachers have experience on training and learning abroad, and there are now 18 teachers, including 2 professors, 4 associate professors, 4 senior engineers and 1 teacher with Doctor’s Degree. In the last three years, more than 50 papers were published, and 7 patents were authorized.

Main courses: metalworking, electrical technology, electronic technology, microcomputer technology, electrical control and PLC, CAD, automated production lines, agricultural machinery and equipment, motor and electric drive, electronic measurement and instrument, power electronics technology, equipment management etc..

Employment oriented: work in the design of mechanical and electrical equipment, installation and commissioning, maintenance and technical support and other related departments in the production line of industries or enterprises; engaged in the operation, product assembly, commissioning, quality control and after-sales service of mechanical and electrical equipment, and the operational maintenance, program design of industrial control equipment, CNC machine tool maintenance, advanced maintenance, technical transformation, product design and after-sales technical support of electrical and mechanical equipment.

Aquaculture Technology

The major was founded in 2002, and there are 51 faculty and staff members including 26 full-time teachers and 25 part-time teachers. We have 2 professors, 5 associate professors, 4 teachers with doctoral degrees and one outstanding expert of Jiangsu Province. So far, we have built 8 multi-functional technical training rooms, 1 on-campus internship bases，20 off-campus practice bases. The facilities are now available for all students which meet the requirements of practice and training.

Basic courses: ichthyography, aquatic biology, water quality monitoring and protection, pond fish culture, biology and culture of special aquatic products, diagnose and prevention of aquatic animal disease, ornamental fish culture, curricular practical training, seasonal internships, substitution internship.

Employment oriented: Graduates in aquaculture can be expected to obtain entry-level employment with large fishery enterprises, fishery technical extension center and research institutes. With a solid foundation in biology and aquaculture technology, they can also pursue a top-up bachelor’s degree in Yangzhou University under cooperation agreement.

Landscape Architecture

Our teacher team has 21 full-time teachers and 25 part-time teachers, in which1 is Professor, 12 are associate professor (Senior Engineer) and 23 are engineer (Lecturer). The professional full-time teachers had strong consciousness on teaching reform and quality, high degree of participation and generally higher level of teaching; our teacher presided over 4 provincial and ministerial level projects, 3 municipal projects and 12 college level subjects. They have published 27 scientific research papers and 7 teaching reform papers in the domestic core journals. We have laboratories which cab accommodate about 50 people, such as computer-aided design room, garden drawing training room, floral art training room, garden survey training room, garden engineering material training room, comprehensive training center of garden plants, plant tissue culture room, plant specimens making training room for individual skill training room. Then, we also have 2 campus training bases and more than 20 outside training bases.

The main course: landscape painting, soil and fertilizer, garden art, preliminary landscape architecture design, landscape measurement, tissue culture, gardens architectural design, identification and application of ornamental plants, ornamental plants cultivation, plant landscape application, landscape engineering construction and management, flower arrangement, Chinese bonsai, landscape drawing.

Employment oriented: Student can find jobs in circulation type enterprises and production enterprises for Chinese and foreign, they also can act as foreign business representatives, translation and management jobs in other export-oriented enterprises ,such as trading firm in China .
