The Chinese civilization is famous for its long history and rich culture. The great silk road, winding across the western part of China, constituted the most ancient and the unique method of communication amongst human beings. There are many historical and cultural sites along the Silk Road, creating a marvelous culture in these areas and the great heritage of mankind.
Gansu province, the birthplace of the Chinese nationality and rich Chinese culture, lies in the golden section of the Silk Road. Within the boundaries of the province, one can find a great variety of valuable historical and cultural heritages such as the ancient great wall and passes, towers, pagodas and steles, along with the splendid grottoes, temples and rich historical relics.
In order to provide an opportunity for Chinese learners from around the world to experience the sights and acquire an understanding of the charm of the western Chinese culture while at the same time explore the history, geography and culture of the wonderful Silk Road, the International Cultural Exchange School of Lanzhou University has created a new project which allows students to both study and explore the western culture for two or three sessions
