USTC is the only university in China that has 2 national laboratories: National Synchrotron Laboratory and Hefei National Laboratory for Physical Sciences at Mirco-scale.
On average, 70% of USTC graduates pursue further study, receiving a master's or doctoral degree and one out of 1000 graduates was elected CAS or CAE academician, which ranks among the top few of Chinese universities.
Thomson Reuters published the “TOP 100 CHEMISTS, 2000-2010” based on the impact indicators of the journal papers in the past 10 years. There were a total of 12 ethnic Chinese listed, among whom there were 6 USTC alumni.
