Jinhua is located in the south of the Yangtze River Delta, the center of Zhejiang Province. It is famous for its history and culture and already becomes one of the most famous historical cities in China.
Jinhua Polytechnic has more than 100 years’ history in vocational education area. It is currently a national model of higher vocational college, a national advanced college of vocational education, and one of the Top Fifty National Advanced Colleges for Graduates Employment.
Jinhua Polytechnic covers 147.8 hectares with a gross floor area of 600,000 square meters. Its fixed assets are worth 1.1 billion RMB, teaching equipments are valued at 177 million RMB. The college also has 367 Chinese government authorized patents and near 1.6 million copies of books, 12 faculties, and one affiliated hospital, 79 majors, more than 300 experimental training rooms, more than 700 off-campus teaching and scientific research bases. At present, the college employs more than 1300 professional teachers which includes 96 professors and 325 associate professors, and has more than 24,000 full-time students.
Jinhua Polytechnic has been making great efforts to expand cooperation and communication with overseas organizations. It has established long term cooperative relationships with more than twenty universities and educational institutions from the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Ukraine, France, Egypt, South Africa, Finland, UAE, Singapore, New Zealand, Indonesia, Rwanda, Cameroon. The inter-school exchange programs cover teaching training, research collaboration, students exchange, Sino-foreign cooperative programs and other projects.
Jinhua Polytechnic has five Sino-foreign joint programs approved by the Ministry of Education, which are the Sino-Australian Nursing Program, Sino-American Accounting Program, Sino-Canadian Hospitality Management Program, Sino-Australian Building Design Program and Sino-American Sports Service Program, with 1120 full-time students. The number of students in the Sino-foreign joint programs is going to reach 1500 in 2015. The Nursing Program has been awarded as the Model Sino-foreign joint program of Zhejiang Province in 2013. Both the Nursing Program and Accounting Program have attended the quality authentication organized by China Education Association for International Exchange in October, 2013.
Jinhua Polytechnic has developed student exchange projects with Finland, Egypt, and Singapore etc. Jinhua Polytechnic offers recruitment and teaching services for oversea students in various specialties such as fields of Chinese Language, Machinery and Vehicles, IT & Information Engineering, Pharmacy, Arts of Dress Design, International Business and Hotel Management, etc. In recent years, there have been more than 400 international students from more than 20 countries studying in our college.
The strategic conception on international education of Jinhua Polytechnic in its 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) is that: One Body, Two Wings, Three Promotions and Four Internationalizations. And we are going to form an international education mode with higher vocational characteristics. One Body, Two Wings means we take Internationalization of Higher Education as the main body, oversea students’ education and Sino-foreign joint program as two wings. Three Promotions means that the promotion of international conception of administrators, teachers and students; the promotion of the communication of cross-strait cooperation in the internationalization of higher vocational education; the promotion of students exchange programs at home and abroad. Four Internationalizations means that realize the internationalization of teaching concept; internationalization of some professional courses; internationalization of personnel mobility; and internationalization of talents cultivation mode.
During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, Jinhua Polytechnic plans to increase three Sino-foreign joint programs and set up a non-independent Sino-foreign international college; and to enlarge the recruitment scale of oversea students, take initial shape of oversea students teaching features in higher vocational college; to provide teachers and students skill training for developing countries such as Indonesia, African countries, etc.; the number of exchange students amount for no less than 200; the number of bilingual courses and all foreign language courses up to 75, among which 60 courses will be introduced from foreign countries.
With the improvement of the opening-up of education, Jinhua Polytechnic will further broaden the field of international communication, actively promote the internationalization of education, and make the soft power of international influence. Implementing education service strategy of "Going Out", and constantly explore innovation, firmly strides forward to the goal of top ranking higher vocational education which with the distinct characteristics, high quality of personnel training, strong capability of regional economic service, and has strong influence in the world.
