I. Introduction
This workshop is designed for the non-Chinese speakers, aiming at providing more chances for learners to learn the Chinese language, get to know Chinese culture and experience Chinese life style. It has such charming features as listed below:
1. No specific knowledge on Chinese is required. The applicants can learn the language from a fresh start while experiencing Chinese culture;
2. Various courses are provided, including pure language courses as well as cultural courses like Chinese calligraphy, martial arts and Shandong cuisine, etc.;
3. Visiting trips are arranged to places of interest in Shandong, including Mount Tai, number one of the Five Sacred Mountains of China, and Qufu, hometown of Confucius;
4. Certificate can be conferred after completion of the workshop.
II. Course and trip arrangement
The workshop can be a 2-week, 3-week or 4-week program. The arrangement for courses and trips are as follows:
1. Two-week workshop
A. Courses: Intensive reading, Listening, Dialogue, Chinese History, Chinese Calligraphy, Martial Arts.
B. Trips: any place of interest in Jinan (Baotu Spring, Baimai Spring, Daming Lake, Lingyan Temple) and Qufu.
2. Three-week workshop
A. Courses: Intensive reading, Listening, Dialogue, Chinese History, Chinese Calligraphy, Martial Arts, Chinese Philosophy, Chinese Architecture (Fengshui and Architecture).
B. Trips: any place of interest in Jinan and Qufu and Mount Tai.
3. Four-week workshop
A. Courses: Intensive reading, Listening, Dialogue, Chinese History, Chinese Calligraphy, Martial Arts, Chinese Philosophy, Chinese Architecture, Chinese Tea Ceremony, Shandong Cuisine, Vegetable Carving, and such cookery courses as dumpling making and scallion cake making.
B. Trips: Jinan city trip, Mount Tai, Qufu, and Wuqiao (famous for acrobatics).
III. Fees
1. Tuition
Two-week workshop: ￥1500/person
Three-week workshop: ￥2000/person
Four-week workshop: ￥2500/person
2. Trip fees:
Trip in Jinan: ￥300;
Trip to Mount Tai: ￥450;
Trip to Qufu: ￥350;
Trip to Wuqiao: ￥350.
3. Housing fee
Applicants will live in the International Students' Hall on campus. We will provide a double-bed suite (with one living room, private washroom, air-conditioner, telephone, TV, Internet terminal), which costs ￥70 for each person everyday.
4. Other fees
Textbooks and other expenses would be paid additionally.
IV. Application requirements
This workshop is for groups (at least 5 people) only. Individual application will not be accepted.

Applicants may fill in the Application for Summer Workshop of Chinese Language & Culture of University of Jinan downloaded from http://www.ujn.edu.cn. and email it to ciee@ujn.edu.cn before 30th, June. We'll send the applicants the Invitation Letter after the application is approved.
