1.School Profile
Quanzhou Normal University is the provincial public university with the approval of the Ministry of Education, and it is situated in Quanzhuo which has first won the reputation of “East Asian Cultures City”. Quanzhou is the famous hometown of overseas Chinese, noted historical and cultural city, the starting point of Maritime Silk Road. With rich historical and cultural heritage, many places of interest and lots of beautiful scenes, Quanzhou has become an ideal place for studying and traveling.
Quanzhou Normal University is the Chinese Educational Base for overseas Chinese of Fujian Province ; its International Chinese Education program is equipped with standard and outstanding faculties, including 21 full-time teachers, 6 professors ,11 associate professors. This program aims to training talented people of Chinese education who have a good knowledge of bilingual languages and cultures, and to recruiting international students majoring in Chinese. So far, our university has received international students from the United States, Canada, South Korea, Japan, Brazil, the Philippines, Ivory Coast, Micronesia, Vietnam, etc. Thus we have accumulated rich experience in teaching international students.
2.Introduction to the Chinese courses
Chinese courses for the international students is classified as elementary, intermediate, and advanced level aiming to teaching international students to learn Chinese language and culture. The teaching program is set up based on the rules of gradual development, and mainly covers Chinese characters, speaking, writing, phonetic, vocabulary, grammar, and reading.
The Chinese cultural courses are also a convenience for international students, including the brief history of Chinese culture, literature, folk culture, and brief introduction to Chinese craftsmanship.
The Chinese Calligraphy course is to teach the “scholar’s four jewels”, the method of Chinese brush pen writing, the basic calligraphy strokes, the brief history of calligraphy and appreciation of calligraphy.
3.Teaching model
We use small class and individualized teaching form, according to each student’s Chinese level, and offer after-school tutoring to ensure the quality of teaching.

1) 14,000 RMB per year
2) Teaching materials: RMB 800yuan per year approximately

I. Quanzhou Normal University
Located in Quanzhou, Fujian---first batch of historical and cultural city, well-known hometown of overseas Chinese, starting point of the Silk Road as well as Capital of Culture in East Asia, Quanzhou Normal University has three campuses: Donghai Campus, Shishan Campus and Jiangnan Campus(cooperation between school and enterprise) which cover the area of 1290.77 mu.
Quanzhou Normal University was formerly known as the Normal College of Quanzhou University which was founded in . Then in 2000, approved by the MOE, it was upgraded to Quanzhou Normal University .it passed the evaluation of undergraduate teaching in 2004 and was approved to be the first batch of pilot units of cultivating the master graduates among the newly established universities in China in 2011. In 2013, Quanzhou Normal University was approved to be the awarding and cultivating construction unit of master degree in Fujian Province, Fujian Postgraduates Education Innovation Base and Fujian “2011 Collaborative innovation center”.
QNU has 1304 faculties and 901 are full-time teachers. Among our full-time teachers, there are 101 professors and 256 vice- professors. QNU has 16 secondary schools, 7 provincial key disciplines and 60 full-time undergraduate programs and now it holds 18502 full-time undergraduate students.
QNU now has 1 MOE’s “Outstanding Teachers”Cultivating Scheme, 1 Teachers Exemplary Construction Projects of “Professionals and curriculum reform” by MOE , 2 National featured programs, 1 National Comprehensive Reform Pilot Project, 1 National Training Mode innovative experimental areas, 1 National College students off-campus practice base; QNU is setting up several research and innovation platforms with 6 at provincial level and 10 municipal level.QNU has won 6 first prices and 11 second prices in Fujian Higher Education Teaching Achievement.
QNU is listed to the 1st batch of SYB for graduates in Fujian In 2009 and entitled as “National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training school”.QNU has been approved of 258 innovation and entrepreneurship projects. Over the past 3 years, it has been recorded of 900 awards from provincial or above competitions. Graduate employment rate remained at more than 97%.
QNU is taking an active part in working with universities from all over the world including USA, German, England, Canada, Australia, Brazil, South Korea, Japan, Philippine, HK, Taiwan, Macao and so on. Annually there will be about 500 teachers and students designed to study abroad. In 2005, QNU becomes one of the only two universities in Fujian to send TCSOL volunteers to Philippine. II. International Students’ Education of Quanzhou Normal University
Quanzhou Normal University is a comprehensive public university under Ministry of China. It is located in Quanzhou, a seaside city in southeastern China which was once Asia’s No.1 port in Song Dynasty, the start of Sea Silk Road and the gathering place of 7 main religions. Apart from being historically cultural and of lots of tourism spots, Quanzhou is highly developed in business and trading for shoes, clothing, textile, Dehua china and Anxi Tea etc. Embracing Quanzhou bay, it is an ideal city for study and travel with the beautiful scenery, favorable weather, clean air and convenient transplantation.
Quanzhou Normal University, sitting on the west bank of Quanzhou Bay, is one of the Chinese language and culture education bases for overseas students in Fujian. Its International Chinese Education major now has 21 full-time teachers, 6 professors (1 Phd supervisor and 4 master supervisors), 11 associate professors and 3 lectures; It mainly aims at developing talents who have a good knowledge of bilingual language and bilingual cultures and can teach Chinese as a foreign language. In the meantime, this major recruits foreign students who focus on language study. Over the recent years, we have students from South Korea, Japan, Philippine, America, Canada, Brazil and Ivory Coast as well as short term summer and winter vacation students for Chinese language and have accumulated much experience on Chinese language teaching. Chinese curriculum mainly aims at the requirement of foreign students studying Chinese language and culture and three levels courses including preliminary, intermediate and advanced level courses are set in accordance with the teaching plan on the basis of Chinese language studying rule. Preliminary course focuses on the cultivating of listening and speaking ability, supported with comprehensive course and listening and speaking courses, reading and writing courses and traditional Chinese culture courses like calligraphy and martial arts are added to intermediate course. Furthermore, HSK advanced course is set for those who aim at HSK test. Language classes are lively and invigorating and are in the form of small class and individualized teaching, in-class teaching and after-class tutorial in parallel which prove to be effective in teaching.
