 On Campus

For most of the students, you may stay longer in the dormitory than in classrooms, the Office for International Students (hereinafter referred to as "the Office") offers 4 different standards which are introduced below. In order to match long term study, three long term accomodation packages are provided. they are 360-day package, 180-day package and 140 day package which can be extended by day. For tempory living purpose, people can choose their favoriate room and pay for it by day.

 Room standards:

1. Room type A (in Building No. 1)

Each room is 15 square meter Public toilet for each floor Public shower room for each floor Public kitchen for each floor TV Air conditioner Telephone Internet Access:     Access limit is 4G/month (free)     RMB 1.00/M for extr Desks, Chairs, wardrobes, beds and beddings are provided

 2. Room type B (in Building No. 14)

Each room is 14 square meter Public toilet for each floor Public shower room for each floor Public kitchen for each floor TV Air conditioner Telephone Internet Access:     Access limit is 4G/month (free)     RMB 1.00/M for extr Desks, Chairs, wardrobes, beds and beddings are provided

 3. Room type C (In Jiayuan Block C)

Each room is 20 square meter with simple decoration Private toilet Private shower room No kitchen TV Air conditioner Telephone Internet Access:     Access limit is 4G/month (free)     RMB 1.00/M for extr Desks, Chairs, wardrobes, beds and beddings are provided

 Room type D (In Jiayuan Block C)

 Available Packages:

Package 1: Long term tendency with fixed period of 360 days.
Package 2: Long term tendency with fixed period of 180 days.
Package 3: Long term tendency with fixed period of 140 days.
Extension fee is charged after the tenancy is expired
the accommodation fee will not be refunded in th eevent of check-out due to personal reasons after being accommodated and before the expiration of th eaccommodation period.

Before you decide to choose the definite dormitory building, you’d better go to have a look at the room.
Get some information from your fellow student or the attendant. Or read the content of this part first .It will help you save time and energy and avoid troubles.
The better your Chinese-speaking capability and attitude, the more possibilities you will have to make the attendant lead you to view more rooms of different floors, faces and rates. When you decide the choice of room, do not forget to say "thanks" to the attendant.
If you worry about your Chinese-speaking capability, you can ask the teachers of "the Office" to help you in this regard.

 Check-in

As the international student of BJTU, you can choose to stay in the Building Part C, 14#, 1#, 3#, or 4#.
Keep contact with the Office first to confirm the required room.
New students: Going through registration and check-in formalities according to he requirements of the Office.
Old students: Going through check-in according to he requirements of the Office.

    Tips:

1.Be sure to know the situation of all facilities of the room before check-in. Be sure if there is any problem for the electrical appliances, the hot water, the heating facility.
2.When you have chosen your room, you need to go to the Office for the check-in formality; pay the charges for accomodation; go to the service counter for paying the deposit and getting the key to the room.
3.Keep clean the room and the corridor, even if you have many pieces of luggage.
4.Keep contact with the attendant in time if you find out any problem in your room.
5.Explain the reasons to the Office if you really need to change the room after check-in; give your reasons for the change of your room.
6.If you have your roommate, it is better for you to respect the individual religious belief and customs in life from each other(These might become the reasons for change of the room, but you many lose the opportunity of exchange for the other culture.).
7.If you want to change the room for the next semester after one-semester stay, it will be quite easy.
8.If you have damaged any facilities in your room or in the public room, you will be deducted the amount from your deposit for compensation.
9.If no damage is caused, all your deposit will be refunded at the time of check-out.
10.Keep well the receipts of your room charges and the deposit. It would be in particular for the receipt of deposit in the amount of RMB 100 yuan for the room key and that of additional deposit in the amount of RMB 400 yuan for Buildings 3# and 4#. Otherwise, you will not be able to get back the deposit even if you have very good relations with the attendant.
11.If you want to extend the period of your stay at the dormitory, be sure thatyou will pay the room charges of the next semester before the expiration of the pre-paid room charges.
12.The room charges can be paid with:
    A.cash
    B.Union Pay card of China
    C.If you use the credit card for the payment, you will be further charged with commission.
    Suggestions:
    It is suggested that you use the Bank of China (BOC) card that you used when you pay the tuition.

 Dormitory service

The attendants are on duty around the clock for services to you at your disposal. Don't feel nervous if you have any questions about the room or your living. Remember, they will help you. You can go to them directly, or tell them in the service counter by telephone. Service telephones:

 Off Campus

The price of an one bedroom unit in the surounding area is about ￥2,500/month, the actual cost depends on location, house condition and season. The information provided here is only for reference.
Looking for accommodation:
·Suggestion:
1.Make enquiries from the teachers of the Office.
2.Through the intermediary of housing estate. There are many such intermediaries such as WOAIWOJIA（I love my home）:www.5i5j.com.
3.The ads of house rental in the campus, in front of the dining hall or the dormitory (less recommended).
·Tips:
1.After your each movement, you must register in the local police office within 24 hours. Bring your passport with you when go for the registration.
2.For change or extension of your visa validity, you need to go to the police office once more for registration with your passport and the Registration Record of Temporary Lodging.
