About College

Bengbu Medical College was founded in July 1958. Under the jurisdiction of Anhui Province,the college is among the first group of universities entitled to grant the degrees of Bachelor and Master.

The campus is located in the eastern outskirts of Bengbu alongside the Dragon Lake. It is a fully functional, modern and ecological campus with beautiful surroundings.

There’re 18 majors leading to the Bachelor’s degrees including Clinical Medicine, Laboratory Medicine Technology, Nursing, Medical Image,Pharmacy, Preventive Medicine, Bioscience, Psychiatry, Food Hygiene and Nutrition, Information Management and Information System, Stomatology, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Medical Imaging Technology, Biological Technology, General Medicine, Anesthetics, and Clinical Blood Transfusion.

The college owns 1 national characteristic specialty and 7 provincial characteristic specialties. And it has 3 provincial key laboratories: Anhui Province Key Laboratory of Infection and Immunology, Anhui Province Key Laboratory of Tissue Transplant, and Anhui Provincial Laboratory of Clinical Foundation of Respiratory System Diseases.

The college enrolls students from 18 provinces of the country. Now nearly 13,000 undergraduates and 1000 postgraduates are studying in the college. There are nearly 4,000 staff members working for the college and its directly affiliated hospitals, in which 771 have senior professional titles including 340 professors and associate professors. The college is a testing center of national vocational qualifications appraisal for psychological consultant, an appraisal station for national vocational skills of Public Dietician, an appraisal station for vocational skills of baby-care teachers and aged-care nurses.

The college has 2 directly affiliated hospitals. As the largest comprehensive hospital in North Anhui, the First Affiliated Hospital is one of the first group of Class A hospitals assessed by the Ministry of Health, and a national clinical pharmacology base. The Second Affiliated Hospital is also a Class A hospital integrating medical care, teaching, science research, prevention, and rehabilitation.

Bengbu Medical College has 11 non-directly affiliated hospitals, more than 170 teaching hospitals, practice hospitals and practive bases, which are located in cities like Beijing, Shanghai, etc. Three academic journals are published: Journal of Bengbu Medical College, Anatomy & Clinical Medicine, and China General Medicine.

The college actively conducts international academic exchanges, having set up cooperative relationship with some universities and academic groups in US, France, Germany, Japan and Australia and sending teachers abroad for research and training. In 2008 the college enrolled 69 overseas students from 5 countries in Asia.

The operation principles of the college is “Taking medicine as the main;taking undergraduate education as the center;taking students cultivation as the basis;taking education quality as the basis.”

We lay much importance to the cultivation of students’ basic theories and basic skills. From 2012 to 2014, BBMC delegation entered the final of the Clinical Skills Competition of National Medical University Students, and won the prizes higher than the second prize for three years. In the First Practice Skills Competition of National Medical Image Majors in 2013, BBMC delegation won the special award for the whole team.

Since its establishment the college has cultivated 50,000 medical professionals, including Liu Depei, an academician of China Engineering Academy, and Duan Shumin, an academician of China Science Academy, who have contributed a lot to the medicare and economic development of the society.
