International students practice TCM

The Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine’s International Education College began a third-term clinical practice course, on June 9, for the English class of 2013, at three community health service centers in the city’s Zhabei district.

The three–week course had students from the United States, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Russia, and Australia.

Before it began, a teacher from the university’s Social Sciences Dept gave some instruction on the objectives and methods of the practice for the international students, with each them having to file a report on the comparison between community health services in China and abroad. The students also got some lessons in the use of traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture with the local people.

Professor from SHUTCM Held a Successful TCM Lecture at Confucius Institute in Peru

Giving Lectures around the world--Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine

At the invitation of the Confucius Institute at the Catholic University of Peru, International Institute of Education, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SHUTCM) made a carefully preparation ,dispatching a Professor Xu Ping to the Catholic University of Peru for educational exchanges. During this visit,SHUTCM has successfully held series of lectures focused on "TCM wisdom "and" body meridians and health ".

Miss Zhu Xiaoyan, the cultural counselor of Embassy of China in Peru and Eduardo Yang Motta, the former Peruvian Ministry of Health and Chairman of presidential adviser, the incumbent President of Chinese Cultural Center of Peru and Director of National Hospital both attended the lectures.

Being innovative, easy to understand, close to the demand as well as interactive enthusiastic, Professor.Xu Ping's lectures were all packed during his talks. After the lecture, many listeners were reluctant to leave, trying to consult or exchange ideas with Professor.Xu, expressing their profound gratitude for his amiable during the talks.

Zhu Xiaoyan thinks highly of Professor. Xu Ping: Traveling around the world for spreading the Chinese acupuncture treasures, sharing his knowledge with the people in Peru, Professor. Xu Ping made a closer relationship between the two peoples, promoting the Chinese Traditional cultural understanding and interest among Peruvian people. Eduardo Yang Motta had visited China in the 1980s to learn traditional Chinese medicine, highly praised his lectures , and hope to learn from each other for further communication and cooperation, promoting the education in medicine and medical research.

SHUTCM will keep on further expand the visiting lectures around the world, catching every opportunity to continue organizing similar seminars to make the world better understand China.

A Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Education Signed between Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Malaysian SEG International Group

On the afternoon of July 14 in SEGI University (Sysmatic Education Group International), the Shanghai University ofTraditional Chinese Medicine and Malaysia SEG International Group signed aMemorandum of Understanding on cooperation in education and educationalcooperation between the two sides officially started.

The vice president of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Jiguang and the COO of the SEG International Bhd Ms. Stella Lau, as a representative of the both sides respectively, signeda memorandum of understanding. The member of Malaysia’s House of Lords Mr.ZhangShengwen visited and witnessed the signing of activities. Dean of International Education, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese MedicineYanXiaotian, consultant Mr. Yang liqian and former director of SEGInternationalBhd Mr. Yang Licheng, Associate Dean JiPingguang, also attendedthe event.

Ms. Stella Lau and Jiguangdelivereda speech successively. They praised the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and SEG International Bhd for their pursuit of excellence and extraordinary school performance, jointly expressed the desire that they wouldpromote the Malaysian Medical education through this cooperation and hope thatmore Malaysian students further their Traditional Chinese Medicine andmedical-related professional learning in Shanghai University of TraditionalChinese Medicine ,and both sides will look forward to working together in theharvest of TCM education.

Zhang Shengwen delivered a speech; hesaid he was glad to witness the cooperation between the two universities andthe highly positive efforts in the two schools of Chinese medicine education cooperation. He also pointed out that Chinese medicine has been widelypracticed into people's lives in Malaysia, and now is not just the local Chinese, but people from other nations have gradually begun to accept the concept of Chinese medicine and health care. Besides, he expressed his looking forward to the Chinese medicine's formally entering into Malaysia's modernhealth care system and turning into a vital ingredient.

Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine held Education Exhibition in Belarus

On 14th June, China's higher education exhibition ended in Minsk capital of Belarus . It lasted two days.Shanghai university of traditional Chinese medicine and other 17 Chinese famous university participated in the exhibition.

This is the second China Scholarship Council held China's higher education exhibition in Minsk. Education minister of Belarus Sergei Musk gave a speech on the opening ceremony on 13th. Hope to further strengthen cooperation and maintail close exchange between the two countries.

Chinese ambassador of Belarus Qiming Cui said, cooperation in the field of education is very important for exchange of China and Belarus. Relationship between these two countries depends on the exchanges and cooperation of youth between the two countries. Higher education is good for students from both countries to learn from each other, make progress together.

This exhibition attracted hundreds of students and parents to visit and learn the status of the higher education in China. Booth of Shanghai university of TCM is attracted many students who are interested in the Chinese traditional culture, traditional Chinese medicine.

During the China's higher education exhibition, Belarus children who have studied Chinese also perform poetry reading and Chinese song for visitors.

Confucius Institute of SHUTCM in United States are welcoming the first batch of students on "Chinese and Chinese culture” Courses

Recently, Due to the further mutual cooperation with Georgia Regents University in America, The traditional Chinese medicine featured Confucius Institute of SHUTCM was founded in Georgia Regents University and now is welcoming its first batch of students. The first opened-course ，named "Chinese language and culture" with 64 periods has now reached 13 students. Hang Xiaoxin is the chief course instructor of this course from Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

This course is set for those who are at the zero-point level, starting from alphabetic stage. After one month training, students have already mastered the basic dialog and all the Chinese phonetic alphabet. They are learning more Chinese cultural things and custom while their study of language.

Being popular among students in Confucius Institute of SHUTCM, Georgia Regents University has also set this course with　three credits The students are full of expectation Chinese learning at the university.

Currently, the more detailed construction of this newly-built Confucius Institute is being processing, and the future plan is also under the schedule.

Visiting guidance to Paris Descartes University and University of Malta

September 14 to 21, President of SHUTCM, Xu Jianguang led a delegation to the Paris Descartes University and the University of Malta for study visit and guidance.

During the visit in Paris Descartes University, Descartes University professor Frederic Dardel cordial and friendly held talks. President Xu also conducted in-depth exchanges with the School of Medicine and College of Pharmacy. The cooperative Graduate Project of Pharmacy between the two universities received high praise, and the advanced students from SHUTCM also receive a good evaluation during further study at the Paris Descartes University. The next step of cooperation between two sides reached a new consensus: not only to expand the scale of cooperation in pharmacy, but also to develop new areas of cooperation in traditional Chinese medicine.

Meanwhile, during the stay in Malta, President of Malta University, JuanitoCamilleri and President Xu conducted an in-depth and detailed discussion on acupuncture and Chinese cultural master project. The two sides fully affirmed the preliminary work, set out coping strategies and solutions for present difficulties and challenges, and set goals for future work to develop a specific timetable.

The visit deepened cooperation between our school and Paris Descartes University and the University of Malta, presenting a long and constant international exchange development of our school.
