1.School of Korean Studies

Comprised of Korean Language Department and Korean Research Institute, the School of Korean Studies is the only school in China specializing in Korean teaching and comprehensive study of South Korea. The school has 27 faculty and staff, including 6 professors and associate professors and 8 foreign teachers. The school offers master’s degree program and doctoral degree program in Korean Language and Literature. The School of Korean Studies is built as the education, research and communication base with Northeast Asia, especially South Korea on Weihai campus by Shandong University. It has been making great achievement in the comprehensive study of Korean peninsula and its Annual Report on Development of Korea is an influential work at home and abroad. The school has obtained over 20 scientific research projects, including National Social Science Foundation Project, Social Sciences Planning Project of the Ministry of China, Shandong Province Social Science Planning Project, and international cooperation programs and published over 20 academic monographs, translations, over 20 textbooks, and over 80 academic papers. In 2012, the School of Korean Studies was nominated as Overseas Key University in Koran Study and received grants from the Ministry of Education of South Korea.

2.College of Ocean Biology

The School of Ocean Biology was established in 1993, composed of Department of Marine Biotechnology, Department of Pharmacy, Department of Marine Environment and Fishery, and Department of Applied Chemistry. Master’s degree program is offered in such majors as Microbial and Biochemical Pharmacy, Marine Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Applied Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Medicinal Chemistry, Biotechnology and so on. Doctoral degree program is offered in such majors as Microbial and Biochemical Pharmacy, Marine Biology, Microbiology, Ecology.

It currently has 85 faculty members, including 13 professors, 22 associate professors, among whom 5 are PhD supervisor, 20 are master’s supervisors, 80% hold a PhD degree, and many have overseas study experience.

3.School of Space Science and Physics

The School of Space Science and Physics is composed of Department of Space Science, Department of Materials Physics, and Department of Physics. Space Science is one of the characteristic and key disciplines of Shandong University. The school has Research Institute of Space Science directly subordinate to Shandong University and key research lab of Shandong Province. The school has complete students training system, offering Bachelor’s Degree Program, Master’s Degree Program, and Doctoral Degree Program. There are 11 professors and 13 associate professors and more than 90 % of the full-time faculty members have PhD degrees. 1 Chang Jiang Scholar has been appointed by the School as distinguished professor. There are another 2 winners of China National Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists, 4 elected in the New Century Talent Supporting Project by the Ministry of Education. The School has invited 7 part-time professors from famous domestic and overseas institutes of higher education and research. The School now conducts nearly 30 National Natural Science Foundation Projects, among which there are 1 China National Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists Project and 1 key Project. The School also participates in 1 National Natural Science Foundation Key Project and 1 Ministry of Science and Technology 937 Project. Many research achievements of international advanced level have been made.
