Founded in 1956, the institute now has multilevel educational programs of postgraduate education, undergraduate education and higher vocational education. It is characteristic of engineering-centered multidiscipline, including science, engineering, literature, management and law. It has developed into a teaching-model general higher engineering institute with architecture and civil engineering as its superiority.
There are 16 teaching units in Jilin Jianzhu University, such as School of Architecture and Planning, School of Civil Engineering, School of Urban Planning and Environmental Engineering. We have 12 postgraduate specialties and 48 undergraduate specialties, among which architecture and civil engineering have passed the evaluation from Construction Department on the discipline of civil engineering science in the national higher institutes. These 4 specialties of water supply and sewage engineering, architecture, civil engineering and art design are the first-batch featured specialties in the province. Moreover, water supply and sewage engineering and architecture are the national first-class featured specialties. The institute launches overseas academic exchanges actively. It has built up a close relationship with colleges and research organizations of England, American, Japan, Russia, Canada, Germany, Argentina, South Korea and Singapore for running joint school programs, personnel training and visits. The qualification for enrollment of overseas students awarded Chinese Government Scholarship is granted in 2006.
Jilin Jianzhu University of P.R. China is one of the key general higher institutes of Jilin province. It is located in Jingyue Traveling Economic Development Zone of Changchun, the capital of Jilin Province. The campus area is 948 thousand square meters, and the total construction area is 454 thousand square meters. There are about 1.3 million stash books and over 1,600 periodicals in Chinese and foreign languages. The scientific research instruments worth amount to 1.7 hundred million yuan. There are approximately 16,000 full-time students in the institute, among which 15,000 are undergraduates and 1,000 are postgraduates. The institute has rich human resources by employing nearly 1,300 teaching faculty, among the 800 full-time teachers, over a half with the senior professional technical titles, more than 200 with doctor’s degree and over 300 Master or Doctor tutors. Jilin Jianzhu University is located in Changchun, the capital of Jilin Province.
