HIEU is dedicated to cultivating talents with international vision and practical abilities. In 2009, HIEU joined Laureate International Universities and is fully utilizing its global platform to share the high-quality education resources with teachers and students.

Since then, HIEU has set up the School of International Education to lead the internationalization effort and global partnerships. Some of their recent activities include the new student exchange programs with top international universities, such as the 100 world ambassadors of qualified HIEU students studying at top Laureate partner institutions over the world and participation in the 100,000 Strong Initiative to provide foreign students more learning opportunities in China. Furthermore, a variety of international events and activities are held on HIEU campus during different seasons including James McGuire Global Competition and The United States Presidential Scholars Program China visits.

In 2010, HIEU Spanish Center (Centro Sino Español) was established by leveraging the Laureate network's rich resources in Spain and Latin America for Spanish language learning and developing talents for future international business opportunities between China and Spanish speaking countries. Also, HIEU has become an examination centre under Cambridge ESOL Examinations and has been authorized to provide BEC tests at all levels.
