College Introduction
Guiyang Vocational and Technical College is located in Guiyang, the capital city of Guizhou Province in China. Guiyang City, known as “zhu” for short and called “forest city” as well, is a provincial center of politics, economy, science, education and culture, and an important transport hub and logistics center to communicate Pearl River Delta and Yangtze River Delta in Southwest China. As an important eco-travel, leisure and vacation city, Guiyang wins a good nationwide reputation of the forest city and the best summer resort in China.
Guiyang Vocational and Technical College, founded in April 2007, is a full-time, all-around and open institute which was sponsored by Guiyang municipal People's Government. Having five faculties and ten departments, the college has set 35 specialties such as: urban rail transit vehicles, electromechanical integration technology, biological pharmacy technology, hospitality management, tourism management, computerized accounting, interior design technology, garden technology, numerical control technology, computer network technology, architectural engineering technology, nonmetallic mining technology, drilling technology, etc. There are around 10,000 students enrolled in the college. The graduate employment rate has reached over 90% over the years. Nowadays, the faculty number is 613.
With the striking characteristics of “region-oriented service, opening-up in education programs and integration with enterprise”, the college has won the title of Guizhou Provincial Demonstrative Vocational College. Having successively established strategic cooperation with the international educational institutes, such as Educational Institute of American Hotel & Lodging Association in the US, Canadore College in Canada, Edge Hill University in Britain, Nilai University in Malaysia, Battambang University in Cambodia, Chung Chou University of Science and Technology in Taiwan, Tungnan University in Taiwan, the college has also made all-round attempts in many patterns to bring in educational resources of high quality, enroll international students, develop international exchanges between staff and students and share educational resources.
We have introduced some foreign teachers from the US, the UK and Cambodia respectively. As the only higher education colleges which have enrolled international students, we have more than 100 international students from Laos, Cambodia, Mongolia, Vietnam and Singapore, Zimbabwe and Uganda. 48 of the foreign students are taking professional courses now.
