Registration Procedures

(1) Handbook for International Students

International students will get a Handbook for International Students when they arrive at YLU for the first time. The book can help the students get familiar with Yulin City, YLU and the International Office as soon as possible.

(2) Registration

International students should get registered in the International Office before each semester begins. If students cannot register on time, please ask for leave from the duty officer with a letter.

(3) Payment

International students should pay their tuition fees, accommodation fees and registration fees within the first week of their arrivals. If students delay their payment of tuition fees, accommodation fees and registration fees, the local PSB will postpone their residence permit applications. So, students should note the deadline date and take full responsibility of their own residence permit applications. Please note that YLU will charge late payment: 1% of the overall tuition, accommodation and registration fees per day.

(4) Physical Examination

International students, with the help of student counselor, should do the physical examination in the designated hospital within the first two weeks of their arrival. The physical examination reports will be collected by the International Office for record purposes.

If the report shows that the student does not meet the required health standard, the student needs to terminate or suspend his or her study at YLU. Therefore, international students who want to study at YLU need to ensure they are disease free.

(5) Residence Permit

Procedures

International students, with the help of student counselor, go to Yulin PSB to go through the formalities for their residence permits one week before their X-visa expiry date. It will take one week to get the residence permit.

Application Documents

The duty officer in the International Office will prepare the following application documents:

1.A written application;

2.Visa, residence permit application form;

3.A copy of the passport and X-visa;

4.Admission notice;

5.Original JW202 form (yellow page);

6.A copy of the physical examination record;

7.Visa, residence permit approval form;

8.YLU code certificate;

9.Copies of receipts for tuition fees, accommodation fees and registration fees.

Costs

400 yuan for a half year; 800 yuan for one year.

(6) Other Cards

Student Card

The International Office will issue a YLU student card to each international student within the first two weeks after the start of term. The cost for the card is 5 yuan, and the attached train discount card is 10 yuan, so the total cost of the card is 15 yuan. Students need to go to the international office to register the card at the beginning of each semester.

Library Card

International students who want a YLU library card need to go to the international office within the first two weeks of term. The cost of the card is 38 yuan. With this card, students can borrow books and magazines from the library. The period for keeping the borrowed books or magazines is 30 days. Students can renew the books if they want to keep them longer. Otherwise, a fine will be imposed in accordance with the regulations. Take good care of the books borrowed. Scribbling on or damaging the books is not allowed. Students are required to compensate for any loss of or damage to books borrowed. The library card can only be used by the card holder and should not be lent to anyone else. Students need return all borrowed books as well as the library card to YLU before leaving.

Dining-hall Card

International students who want a YLU dining-hall card should make this known to the student counselor within the first two weeks of term. The cost of the card is 14 yuan.

(7) Campus Visit

The International Office will hold a meeting for all international students one or two days before the beginning of each semester, and the meeting will let students know the new semester’s teaching and extracurricular arrangements. The International Office will also organize the new students to go on a campus tour, including visiting teaching buildings, students’ apartments, the library, the dining hall, the sports field, and Shanbei Historical and Cultural Museum.

(8) Orientation Activities

The International Office will organize a welcome party for all international students and Chinese teachers in order to enhance mutual understanding.
