Established in 1952, Qiqihar University is located on Laodong Lake of Qiqihar city, Heilongjiang Province of China----the hometown of red-crowned cranes. This university is the only provincial comprehensive regular institution of higher learning in the west part of Heilongjiang province, enjoying the titles of a "Garden University" and the "Provincial Key Construction University". Located in the standard Chinese Mandarin area of our country, Qiqihar has a favorable language environment. Therefore, it has been one of ideal bases of Chinese learning. Qiqihar University has a full range of fields and disciplines, consisting of 22 colleges covering the humanities, sciences, foreign languages, technology and management, and 84 undergraduate majors and concentrations. So far, Qiqihar University has 1501 full-time teachers and nearly 30,000 students.
The University highly values international exchanges and co-operation historically. It has successively developed inter-collegiate exchanges, academic exchanges and cooperation in running schools with around 70 higher education institutions from 13 countries including U.S.A., Britain, Japan, Russia, South Korea, Russia, Canada, the Ukraine, Ireland, etc. Since 1993 when we first recruited overseas students, the university has trained over 2,000 international students from different countries including Russia, the Republic of Korea, the Britain, Japan, Austria, Australia, Mongolia, Spain , Sweden and so on. With even more open mind and diversified forms, Qiqihar University is promoting cultural and artistic exchanges between China and other countries. In 2009, our university has been approved to establish Qiqihar Sino-Russian University Student Arts Exchange Base by the Ministry of Education. As the university of the project of Chinese Government Scholarship for International Students, International Cooperation and Exchange College of Qiqihar University is entirely responsible for the recruitment, training and management of overseas students. Persisting the spirit of "human-oriented" as well as common advancement with interactions between Chinese students and international students, the college has displayed a trend of leap-forward development in international students education.
