Chinese Government Scholarship Enrollment Prospectus of HRBNU
Harbin Normal University (HRBNU) locates in the northeastern city of Harbin. With its unique style of architecture, Harbin has a reputation of “Eastern Paris”. HRBNU was founded in 1951. It is the center of higher teacher education, higher arts education, educational science and research and teacher training in Heilongjiang Province. The TCFL Teacher Training Center of Heilongjiang Province is here as well. It serves as the only training base of TCFL teachers in the province and is the only college authorized by MOE to take the tasks of registration and testing affairs of TCFL in Heilongjiang province. Also, HRBNU is a testing center of Mandarin Chinese and HSK authorized by Hanban. At present, HRBNU has an enrollment of more than 42,000 and has established cooperation relationship with over 40 universities from Russia, South Korea, Japan, the United States, Britain and other nations and regions. Since 1984, HRBNU has fostered more than 8,000 international students from South Korea, Japan, Russia, the United States, Canada as well as other countries. Now HRBNU enrolls over 800 long-term and short-term international students every year.
In the academic year of 2014-2015, China Scholarship Council consigns HRBNU to enroll some excellent students to study for Master’s and Doctor’s Degree. International students may choose programs from the given form and their tuition in China will be paid by Chinese government. The details are as follows:
I. Qualification, Time Limit and Application Conditions of Scholarship
Scholarship for Postgraduate: Scholarship is provided to those who apply to attend postgraduate program with a time span of 3 years. The applicant should be with a Bachelor’s Degree with good records and recommended by 2 professors or 2 associate professors. Applicant will be admitted when passed the HRBNU enrollment test. The applicant should be younger than 35.
Scholarship for Doctorate: Scholarship is provided to those who apply to attend doctoral program with a time span of 3-4 years. The applicant should be with a Master’s Degree with good records and recommended by 2 professors or 2 associate professors. Applicant will be admitted when passed the HRBNU enrollment test. The applicant should be younger than 40.
Note: Applicants who know nothing about Chinese should attend a language class for 1-2 years to strengthen their language ability, during which time the applicants will still be aided by the government scholarship.
II. Contents of Scholarship
1. China Government Scholarship will provide international students for their fees and spending on registration, tuition, experiment, practice, textbooks, accommodation;
2. Living allowance: 1700 RMB per month for each postgraduate; 2000 RMB per month for each doctoral student. One-off settlement subsidy: 1500 RMB per person.
3. Fee for outpatient medical service which is the same with the conditions offered to our home students.
III. Application Materials
Applicants should give a truthful account and all the materials should be printed in duplicate. Please note that two extra copies of all materials are required.
1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship. Please finish the form in Chinese or in English. Students are required to register online after Jan.1, 2014.
2. Original notarized diploma and official transcript. If the applicant is studying or working in an institution, a current student certification or on-duty certification is required. The notarized certificates must be in English or in Chinese.
3. Copy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (To download, please visit http://laihua.csc.edu.cn/inscholarship/jsp/student/StudentLogin.jsp Please keep the original form by yourself.
4. A study or research plan (no less than 800 words) should be written in Chinese or in English.
5. Recommendations in Chinese or in English of two associate professors (or with titles above) are required.
6. A CD (or DVD) of the application’s performance is required for applications for music; A CD (or DVD) of the application’s works, which includes two sketches, two color paintings and two other works, is required for applications for fine arts.
7. Passport copy (only photo page)
8. In order to make you receive the Admission Letter and Invitation Letter as early as we can, please give us a seperate page of your mail address, including the information as follows: To whom, city, nation, mail address, zip code, telephone number.
Notes: Applicants can’t apply for two types of scholorships in China, or application will not be attended to.
IV. Application and Approval
1. Applicants should log on to the following website, finish the on-line registration and print out the application forms directly (Agency No. is 10231). Please sign on the application forms. http://laihua.csc.edu.cn/inscholarship/jsp/student/StudentLogin.jsp
2. Applicants could send the application documents to International College of HRBNU before April 20, 2014.
3. HRBNU will review all the application materials. Qualified applicants will be officially approved eventually by China Scholarship Council(CSC).
4. The list of admitted students will be given out before July 31, 2014, and HRBNU will send Visa Application Form for Study In China (JW 201) and Admission Notice to the students or relevant departments.
5. After being admitted by HRBNU, students who attend Chinese language training courses before major studies must pass the entrance examination about relevant courses, so that they can start major studies.
6. The admitted students should apply for Study Visa In China in Chinese Embassy or Consulate General by holding Visa Application Form for Study In China, Admission Notice and Foreigner Physical Examination Form, which are also needed at the time of registration in HRBNU.
