REGULATION OF SCHOLARSHIP FOR THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
§ General Principles
I Guangzhou University(GU) set up the scholarship for international students in order to attracting more international students to study at GU, promoting the exchange of cultures between China and other countries and building the variety of the cultures in campus. To do well in administration and granting the scholarship, we constitute this regulation.
II It is working by the principles of public, equitable and impartiality when evaluating the issues of the scholarship.
§ Category of Scholarship
III There are two kinds of the scholarship in GU. One is the full scholarship and the other is the half one. And there are two kinds of the international students who can apply for the scholarship: degree students (A) and Chinese language learners and the students who make an advanced study (B).
IV The setting up of the scholarship for the degree students (A) is to encourage excellent international students to apply the degree in GU.
V The setting up of the scholarship for the Chinese language learners and the students who make an advanced study, is to encourage excellent international students to study at GU.
§ Sum and Quota
VI The criterion of granting the scholarship is as follows:
Full scholarship: Students (both of the two categories) have to pay the total tuition for GU during studying at GU (students must pay for GU in terms of the rules and the scholarship will be granted month by month each year).
Half scholarship: Students (both of the two categories) have to pay at least as the half tuition for GU during studying at GU (students must pay for GU in terms of the rules and the scholarship will be granted month by month each year).
Both of the kinds of the scholarship must be applied one-off and be granted by year (month).
§ Admission and ways
VII The admission of the scholarship for degree students
i Applicants must have foreign nationality and be health enough.
ii The academic level and age of the applicants
Applicants, who apply for the undergraduate courses, have to be graduated from high school with the age of 18 to 25.
Applicants, who apply for the Master’s degree, must have the Bachelor’s degree with the age of 18 to 35.
Applicants, who apply for the doctor’s degree, must have the Master’s degree within 40 years old.
iii Applicants must be succeed in former studying.
iv Applicants must have got the certification of HSK with band 6.
VIII Admission of the scholarship for Chinese language learners and the students who make an advanced study
i Applicants must have foreign nationality and be health enough.
ii Applicants have to be graduated from high school with the age of 18 to 25.
iii Applicants have to apply for studying at GU one year or more than one year.
IX GU would not accept the applicants as follows:
i Applicants come from the countries which have not established the diplomatic relations with China.
ii Applicants have any record of criminal or badness.
X Way to apply (for the degree students )
There are two application forms for the scholarship, the international students shall write it in terms of the actual need. And you can download the forms at the GU website: http://www.gzhu.edu.cn
The deadline for the application is on 10th June every year.
i 《Scholarship Application Form for Degree Students of GU》(A), write it by Chinese or English.
ii The notarial highest certification. If the applicant is studying at another school at the same time, he has to supply the certification of studying by that school with notarial English language version.
iii The school report card with notarial English language version.
iv Applicants, who apply Master’s degree, have to supply a paper about the plan of studying and research with Chinese or English language.
v The certification of HSK with band 6(copy file).
vi The recommendation letters written by two professors or associate professors from the graduated school by Chinese or English language.
vii Applicants, who apply for the specialty of music or fine arts, have to supply their own opuses.
viii Medical Certificate (copy file).
The application papers would not be sent back to the applicants whether they have been matriculate or not.
XI way to apply (for the Chinese language learners and the students who make an advanced study)

§ Evaluating, confirming and supervising
XII GU organizes a committee about evaluating and supervising the scholarship of international students. The committee is made up of the chairmen from the international office, office of educational administration, office of postgraduate, administration office of students and office of recruiting students and obtaining employment, and also some professors from relative colleges. The international office is charge of the specific affairs.
XIII After evaluating the qualification and competence of the applicants by international office, then the relative colleges will give the ideas to the applicants according to the requirements.
XIV The Committee will auditing the application papers on the basis of the opinions from the colleges (interview will be organized when necessary). With the principles of equitable and impartiality, the Committee will report to the leadership of GU after deciding the final results.
XV International office will announce the results of all the category of scholarship both on July and November each year. The results will be also announced at the website of international office, as well as the papers to the applicants.
XVI All the applicants have to supply a paper of guarantee. If the applicants who breach of promise or break the Chinese law and regulations of GU, after the discussion, the Committee will cancel or cease their scholarship, and give them the corresponding punishment.
§ How to grant
XVII It is named as THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS’ SCHOLARSHIP IN GUANGZHOU UNIVERSITY. GU will set up this scholarship each year. The financial office will manage it specially and international office is charge of it.
XVIII After the list of applicants confirmed on July each year, whom international office will inform to open a card or deposit book at Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. Then international office will collect the information of all the accounts of those applicants, and send it to the financial office.
XIX The teacher in charge of the affairs of international students from international office will write a form for the drawing the scholarship before 15th each month. The contents of the form include the name list of the scholarship students, accounts of ICBC and the sum of the scholarship. After auditing by international office, the financial office will transact the transfer and granting of the scholarship.
XX The interpret of this regulation belongs to the international office.
