With its rich and colorful resources of culture, learning and activities, Yuxi Normal University (YNU) has drawn many foreign students to live and study in Yuxi. Presently, there are 13 colleges in YUN with 28 majors which have covered many fields such as arts, education, language, literature, environment monitoring and resource protection as well as physical education. Students who has finished their high school study and reached the HSK requirement (HSK Level 4) are all welcome to join their bachelor degree study in YNU.

a.Language Curriculum
This curriculum is designed to help students master the Chinese language through instruction on grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, and character recognition. All students will take a comprehensive Chinese class that focuses on learning skills that can be applied to all aspects of daily life. They will also take separate classes on the specific disciplines of speaking,listening comprehension, reading, and writing. This program equips students to confidently use the Chinese language in all aspects of daily life.

b.Business Chinese
This curriculum is designed for training the foreign student in the affairs of commerce and trade.By understanding the culture and customs of the Chinese people the foreign student will become equipped with the knowledge and necessary communicative skill to successfully engage in business and commercial activities.
•Business Chinese:Basic
This course is designed for those who only have a limited time for studying the basic essentials of the language for performing business functions。
The curriculum for this course includes the following:
1) Business etiquette: proper greetings,providing introductions,apologizing appropriately,asking questions respectfully, the correct way to culturally provide praise, etc.
2) Daily affairs: shopping,traveling,making/receiving phone calls, setting appointments, etc.
3) Business vocabulary:company introduction,product presentation,consultation,making suggestions, etc.
4) Basic negotiation skills:bargaining,preparing contracts,cooperative decision making,solving disputes, etc.
5) Economy: study of the current economic climate
This class will equip the students with a 1200 Chinese word vocabulary and character recognition skill set. It will also provide 200 basic sentence patterns for engaging in business and commerce。 HSK preparation for the basic business level is recommended as a follow-up for this course. Course details: 224 hours of instruction on the disciplines of comprehensive Chinese,business conversation,business etiquette,business vocabulary,reading business documents.
•Business Chinese:Intermediate
This course is designed for intermediate level Chinese language speakers. The curriculum for this course focuses on company organization,office facilities, scheduling,hosting a meeting, establishing a business plan,discussing progress,advertisement,handling complaints,hiring and firing,training,corporate culture, and business documents。By the end of the course each student shall attain an 1600 Chinese word vocabulary and character recognition skill set ready for use in everyday business affairs. HSK preparation for the basic or intermediate level is recommended as a follow-up for this course.
Course details:224 hours of instruction on the disciplines of comprehensive business Chinese,business conversation,business etiquette,handling business affairs, reading and writing business documents.
•Business Chinese:Advanced
This course is designed for those who have surpassed the intermediate level. It focuses on establishing and implementing a well-rounded knowledge of business and commercial affairs. By the end of this course the student shall have enough understanding of Chinese business, language, and culture to intelligently discuss the current economic climate of the country, as well as, successfully engage in economic affairs。This course will increase each student’s business vocabulary by 1000 words. They will also be able to read and write formal business letters and documents (including the newspaper).
Course Details: 224 hours of instruction on the disciplines of advanced Chinese,business Negotiation,newspaper reading,reading and writing of official business letters and documents, and an introduction to Chinese commercial law。
