There are 18 colleges, with 7 national key disciplines and 24 ministerial or provincial key disciplines. The university��s disciplines cover agriculture, science, engineering, economics, management, literature, law, education, medicine, history and philosophy. There are 61 undergraduate programs, 105 master��s degree programs, 71doctoral degree programs and 11 post-doctoral research stations. At present, Northwest A&F University has 1 key laboratory at national level, 15 key laboratories at ministerial or provincial level and 16 research and engineering centers at national, ministerial or provincial level, and 3 key off-campus research stations.

There are over 4,600 faculty and staff at Northwest A&F University, including more than 360 professors, over 900 associate professors, over 210 doctoral supervisors, and over 620 master��s supervisors, 9 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (including 7 invited academicians). 2 professors of the ��Changjiang Scholars Program��, 4 scholars of state ��Outstanding Youth Foundation��, 10 candidates for the national ��Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Expert Project��, 28 candidates for ��New Century Talents Support Plan�� of Ministry of Education.

The university started its undergraduate education in 1939 and graduate education in 1941. At present, the university has formed a complete talent cultivation system from post-doctoral, doctoral degree, master��s degree, bachelor��s degree, 2 or 3-year curricular undergraduates as well as adult education. Northwest A&F University has awarded degrees to over 100,000 qualified graduates serving all over China and the world. Now, there are over 20,000 undergraduate students and over 4,300 graduate students including over 1,000 students for doctoral degrees on campus.

The university has always concentrated on the forefront of science and technology, and carried on the national and regional major strategic research projects, actively conducting applied and basic research for the practical agricultural production. Since its establishment, Northwest A&F University has completed 5,000 research projects. More than 1,500 of the projects received awards for excellence, including 122 projects that received awards at the national level. Bima ��, the No.1 wheat cultivar used across the country and Xiaoyan �� wheat culvitar, dominating China��s wheat variety replacement. Qinguan apple has been bred by our university and is setting a record in popularity across the country. The economic benefits gained by applying scientific research achievements have totaled more than 200 billion RMB. The university also formed obvious advantages in water-saving irrigation, crop breeding, integrated management of soil and water erosion on the Loess Plateau, environment protection, and biotechnology, etc.

The university pays great attention to demonstration, extension and industrialization of the sci-tech achievements. Since 1999, Northwest A&F University has built long-term cooperative relationships with over 50 local governments and enterprises and has established 45 rural research and demonstration stations and 37 agricultural Experts Yards in rural areas. The university was the first in China to establish the agricultural scientific and technological extension model, which is encouraged by the government and university. The approach has been given great priority and received support from the government. The university��s Science Park and Overseas Scholar Pioneering Park are among the first ones to become national-level university science parks.

Northwest A&F University has established collaborations with more than 40 universities and research institutes in over 30 countries and has signed agreements of student exchange and MOUs as well as obtaining the support of China Scholarship Council. With the support of CSC, 70 young teachers and over 100 Ph.D students are selected to study abroad each year. The university is also one of the 16 universities with the approval right of foreign affairs. It is one of the universities receiving international students with the Chinese government scholarship. Many international students come to study, do internship and research in the university every year. Summer schools for international students have been conducted periodically.

Located 70km west of Xi��an Xianyang International Airport and with Lanzhou-Lianyungang Railway and Xi��an-Baoji Express way across it, the university enjoys a relatively efficient transportation system.

Northwest A&F University covers an area of 3049.2 hectares, with campuses of 326.68 hectares, and a total floor space of 1.22 million square meters. The value of equipment and instruments for teaching and research reaches 360 million Yuan. The university��s library houses a collection of 2.02 million volumes.
