1.Students studying Chinese language courses

Class types :

Class A at elementary level, Class B at elementary level, Class C at elementary level

Class A at intermediate level, Class B at intermediate level

Class A at advanced level, Class B at advanced level

Placement :

1.Beginners are placed into Class A at elementary level.

2.Students who have learned Chinese before are placed into classes according to their scores of placement tests. Students can audit classes and apply for changing the class during the first two days after class placement. ICEI will consider students’ applications and adjust classes if necessary.

2.Undergraduate students :

ICEI is responsible for the training of students studying B.A. program in TCSL at DMU.

Other colleges at DMU are responsible for the training of students studying other undergraduate programs.

Introduction

Dalian Minzu University(DMU) is located in Dalian which lies along the coast of Yellow Sea is under the direct administration of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission. We are the only ethnic university in the northeastern and open coastal region of China. DMU is a comprehensive institution of higher education strong in the disciplines of engineering and applied subjects. We have 19 teaching and research bodies and provide 52 undergraduate programs covering engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law and arts. We have been actively involved in building cooperative relations with over 100 universities, research organizations and enterprises from 20 countries and regions including South Korea, Japan, U.S.A, Canada, Turkey etc.

International Cultural Exchange Institute (ICEI) at DMU is a teaching body recruiting and training international students from across the world. We were approved by Hanban as one of HSK test centers in July 2014. The building of ICEI covers 1800㎡ and has over 20 classrooms at various sizes, 5 audiovisual rooms, 1 reading room and other rooms for entertainment, leisure and learning Chinese painting and calligraphy. We have built an appropriately-structured teaching workforce with strong academic ability, advanced teaching techniques as well as professional experience and perspectives. We offer B.A. program in Teaching Chinese as Second Language (TCSL) and excellent Chinese language training programs. Since the establishment of ICEI in 1997, we have trained over 4000 international students from over 40 countries and regions. Nearly two hundred students have continued onto their undergraduate study in TCSL, Chinese literature and culture, law, international trade & economics, computer science & technology, industrial design at DNU. Many of our alumni have been contributing their knowledge and experience to important economic, educational and cultural circles worldwide.

3.Fees with deduction

Students who meet one of below conditions can get a deduction of tuition fee:

(1) 5 students or above register to study together

(2) Students who have studied with us for one semester want to continue to study for another semester.

(3) Students from DMU’s overseas partner universities.

Others

Accommodation :

1.We have international students accommodation building on campus. The building provides double rooms which are equipped with air conditioner, refrigerator, television etc. The charge of each room per day is 35RMB per person. Students pay room fee to accommodation management center. Students from overseas partner universities have priority to live in our accommodation building.

2.Students can live off campus on condition that they present address information to ICEI. Students from overseas partner universities can live off campus until they obtain approval from home universities.

Student Life:

DMU is located in the downtown of Development Area where you can find bus stations, banks, shopping centers, restaurants and hospitals nearby.

Transportation: Major transportation routes run through university areas. It takes only 30 minutes by tram to get to downtown of Dalian city.

Banks: Bank of China (BOC), Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), Agricultural Bank of China (ABC), China Construction Bank (CCB), Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC), Korea Exchange Bank (KEB), Bank of East Asia (BEA) are near the university, which offer all kinds of financial services.

Shopping: You will find supermarkets like New-Mart, Tesco, Wal-Mart and shopping malls like Ansheng, Wanhehui, Mykal, Friendship etc. nearby.

Eating: Students dining halls offer a variety of ethnic cousins and have a Muslin restaurant inside. Close to the university, you will find plenty of restaurants serving Korean, Japanese and western style food.

Hospital: There is a clinic on campus. Besides, you will find well-equipped the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University and Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University nearby.
